The Minister of Youth and Sports Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman want to transform Malaysia into a developer of esports games for exports.
By developing esports industry in Malaysia can bring a considerable, in term of foreign investment ans also high wages job opportunity.
He told Bernama that he want young people in Malaysia has the ability to develop and export the games besides from playing the games. This can help to bring extra income and also job opportunities.
Syed Saddiq mentioned that his ministry has created a co-operation with Malaysia Digital Economic Climate Firm （MDEC） and esports players in order to produce more talented youngster that might establish esports games.
Malaysia has many young talented who can establish esports games software application, however they have to go abroad due to absence of chance provided in the Malaysia.
Syed Saddiq advice the youth return back to Malaysia for better country development as the government is now invest in esports industry and also working to attract esports software company to invest for better job opportunity.
Previously,Syed Saddiq has visited to esports factories in Thailand. There are around 200 to 300 young people are working to develop esports games and getting paid between US1,500 to US3000 a month to produce triple a games.
In addition, he added that Malaysia should must not leave behind Thailand,Singapore and Indonesia in growing esports industry.
Esports was a huge affair in Thailand with more than 10 million people playing esports games stated by Thailand E-Sports Arena founder and chief executive officer Jirayod Thepipit. However, most of the Thai players treat it as a form of entertainment and not taking as professional basis. He said that he want to make it more professional.
