Esports is officially included in SEA GAMES 2019 hosted in Philippines

Esports is officially recognized in SEA Games 2019, announced by the Philippines South East Asian Games Organizing Committee (PhilSGOC) Chairman during the press conference in Pasay City.

Esports games will be a medal event at SEA Games in Philippines next year 2019, which is an exciting news to all esports players whereby esports has finally being recognized. Philippines will be the first country to host medal esports event in SEA Games, bringing a milestone for Philippines and SEA.

According to ESPN, there will be total 6 gold medals will be awarded through esports in SEA Games. Two of the medal will rewards through PC games, another two for mobile games and last two for console games. So far, only 1 mobile game which is Mobile Legend: Bang Bang has been confirmed as one of the medal games.  Another 5 more will be finalised by December 15 mentioned by ESPN

Razer co-founder and CEO, Min-liang Tan has meet with the PHISGOC to discuss the inclusion of esports as part of the medal sports in SEA Games. He has made an announcement in his Facebook post, mentioned that there are official esports partner for the 2019 SEA games that will be hosted in Philippines.

Razer will be contributing in gaming hardware, software and services for the esports event in SEA Games. Furthermore, Razer will provide supports for Philippine esports athletes for the finals. Razer and PhilSGOC will discuss with different game publishers to decide which esports games will be featured in SEA Games.
